Chris Pratt puts an end to ‘infamously anti-LGBTQ’ church comments made by Ellen Page with lengthy Instagram post denouncing hateful rhetoric

His house of worship was under attack earlier this week when Ellen Page claimed his church had an ‘anti lgbtq’ agenda.

And Chris Pratt put rumors to rest with a lengthy Instagram post shared to his stories on Monday afternoon. 

The 39-year-old actor wrote that ‘nothing could be further from the truth’ and that his church ‘opens their doors to absolutely everyone’ on top of an image of a sheep standing on top of a rock.

‘It has recently been suggested that i belong to a church which ‘hates a certain group of people’ and is ‘infamously anti-LGBTQ.’ Nothing could be further from the truth,’ he wrote. ‘I go to a church that opens their doors to absolutely everyone.’

He added that his place of worship ‘helped me tremendously’ during his divorce to Anna Faris ‘despite with the Bible says’ about the ending of marriages.

‘It is what I have seen them do for other on countless occasions regardless of sexual orientation, race or gender,’ he added.

The Guardians of the Galaxy star admitted that his faith is ‘important to me’ but reminded his fans that ‘no church defines me or my life, and I am not a spokesman for any church or any group of people.’

‘This is what guides me in life. He is a God of Love, Acceptance and Forgiveness. Hate has no place in my or this world,’ he wrote.

He appeared to be in great spirits as he left Sunday services in Los Angeles with his bride-to-be Katherine Schwarzenegger. 

Chris and his faith were in a bit of hot water after an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert where he admitted to relying on the churches guidance through difficult times. 

‘There’s this great quote, that I actually heard in church, and it felt really appropriate, which was, ‘If the spotlight that’s shining on you is brighter than the light that comes from within you, it’ll kill you.’ And you see it all the time,’ he explained. ‘People in our position, people that are actors — you see it a lot. It’s a real bright spotlight.’

Ellen wasn’t pleased and took to Twitter to question why Colbert failed to dive deeper into the commentary.

‘Oh. K. Um. But his church is infamously anti lgbtq so maybe address that too?’ she quipped to her millions of followers. 

‘If you are a famous actor and you belong to an organization that hates a certain group of people, don’t be surprised if someone simply wonders why it’s not addressed,’ she added the next day. ‘Being anti LGBTQ is wrong, there aren’t two sides. The damage it causes is severe. Full stop. Sending love to all.’ 

The Guardians Of The Galaxy star went on to discuss a contributing factor to his six-pack abs, a biblically-inspired diet known as the ‘Daniel Fast,’ after the Book Of Daniel.

‘I did it through my church,’ he said. ‘It’s based on Daniel … he was a guy, who … only ate fruits and vegetables and grains … I was inspired by my pastor, we do it, it’s kind of like our Lent, you know, give something up. And so, for 21 days I had no meat, no sugar, no alcohol, and it was actually amazing, it was really cool!’

His faith was a contributing factor in his quick romance with Schwarzenegger which lead to an engagement at the beginning of the year after seven months of dating.

‘Sweet Katherine, so happy you said yes! I’m thrilled to be marrying you. Proud to live boldly in faith with you,’ the actor shared on Instagram about their pending nuptials.

The Jurassic World star added that his son Jack, 6, who he shares with ex-wife Anna Faris, is ‘so thrilled’ about their engagement and the wedding plans.  

Anna and Chris split in August 2017 after eight years of marriage and finalized their divorce on Oct. 16, 2018.
