Carol McGiffin has revealed that she’s secretly tied the knot with toyboy Mark Cassidy.
The Loose Women presenter came clean about the incognito ceremony a whole year after it took place!
After enjoying one whole year of married bliss, Carol decided to tell the world about her low-key wedding in Bangkok.
Carol revealed to best magazine, who she writes for as a columnist, that she and Mark, who is 22 years her junior, said ‘I do’ on February 8, 2018.
It was their third attempt at walking down the aisle, with the first date being cancelled when Carol’s sister tragically died just five days before, and the second cancelled as the couple still felt it was too soon.
And Carol, 58, said that after telling all their loved ones in person, they’re finally ready to share the news.
Revealing they tied the knot in Bangkok, Carol told the mag: "In fact, I’m in Bangkok now, we’re celebrating our first anniversary and doing all the same things and going to all the same places. We plan to do the same thing every year."
Carol said they chose to get married in Bangkok as it’s their favourite place, but also because they could be "anonymous" there.
Carol, who insisted her marriage is legal, said they didn’t have any guests at the wedding and enlisted the help of two locals to act as witnesses.
And she said that none of her friends or family were upset about missing their big day.
She said: "Well, if anyone was upset or annoyed they didn’t show it. Everyone was very happy for us and not even a bit surprised that we did it that way.
"Anyway, part of the reason it took us so long to get married was because every time we discussed having a traditional wedding day with guests, it ran out of control and became too much. We have lots of friends which is why it’s taken a year to get around to telling everyone."
Carol and Mark dressed in their normal clothes for the ceremony, mainly because Carol had a bandage on her leg – courtesy of a scary dog chasing the couple during a workout session – and didn’t want it to show.
After the wedding, the newlyweds went for dinner and drinks.
They’re planning to have a proper honeymoon to the Maldives this year.
