Prince Charles’s godson ‘to marry mermaid after Christmas proposal’

Following the nuptials of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie, there’ll be another ‘royal’ wedding – of sorts.

Prince Charles’s godson Nicholas Knatchbull is to marry his girlfriend Ambre Saint-Clare – a professional MERMAID.

Nicholas, 37, the great-grandson of the first Earl Mountbatten, proposed to renowned ‘mer-lesque’ artist Ms Saint-Clare over Christmas.

Mer-lesque artists are performing mermaids, and Ambre famously dons a custom-made Swarovski crystal-encrusted mermaid tail.

Nicholas is the heir of Earl Mountbatten of Burma, and is known as ‘Five Dimensional Nick’ in his work as a musician.

Ms Saint-Clare shared the happy news online: "Got engaged to Five Dimensional Nick."

Pals posted messages of congratulations, to which Nicholas – who has the title of Lord Barbourne – responded: "Thanks and massive love to all you well-wishers."

His family owns a 5,000 acre, 60-room home in Hampshire.

He was educated at Eton, where he was said to be close with Prince William.
