Little Mix continues to bring girl power for the promotion for their much-anticipation album “LM5”. Following “Woman Like Me” and “Joan of Arc”, the British girl group unleashed “Told You So” on Thursday, November 8.
Produced and written by MNEK, the song finds the girls comforting a friend who just broke up with her boyfriend. Even though they know that the friend’s then-beau is not good for her, they don’t blame their friend for dating him. Instead, they sing over a simple, strumming guitar, “I’ve got wine and make-up wipes/ I’ll hold you, I’ll hold you.”
Little Mix also takes a jab at the friend’s ex-boyfriend, rhyming, “You’re better than someone who lies and cheats to set the scene/ It’s every week and every single club we’ve been in/ He’s waiting on the girl again.”
According to them, “Told You So” is an ode to their long-lasting friendship which began after they were formed on the U.K. version of “The X Factor“. They said of the song, “If there was a song on the album to define us it would be this one… true friendship. No matter what we’ll always look out for each other.”
“LM5” is set to be released on November 16. The upcoming effort will have three different versions: the standard version with 14 songs, the deluxe version with 4 extra songs, pictures and a hardback CD book as well as the super deluxe version with extra picture and handwritten notes. In an interview with Vice last month, they described the record as honest, mature and “the album they’ve always wanted to make.”
In support of the new album, Little Mix will embark on a U.K. tour next year. The trek will kick off on October 10 in Dublin and include stops in London, Liverpool and Newcastle. It is set to conclude on November 19 in Leeds.
