Police on the hunt for Burrows Avenue creep after girls escape safely

Winnipeg police are looking for the public’s help in finding a suspicious person after two young girls escaped a scary situation.

The girls – a nine-year-old and her seven-year-old sister – were walking in the 2200 block of Burrows Avenue around 9 a.m. Monday when they were approached by a man who stopped his car, got out, and motioned to grab the older girl, said police.

Both girls ran to a safe location nearby and no one was injured in the incident.

The man was last seen driving toward Keewatin Street.

Police described the suspect as in his 30s or 40s, under 5’9″, with a thin build, dark shoulder-length hair, and wearing a dark jacket, grey toque, and jeans.

Winnipeg police continue to investigate, along with Winnipeg Police School Resource Officers.

Anyone with information that might help investigators is asked to call police at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
