The top 100 nations for good food have been revealed &#8211; and it&#8217;s\u00a0Italy that&#8217;s number one followed by runner-up Japan and Greece in third.<\/p>\n<p>This is according to a recent study by the\u00a0Taste Atlas Awards 2023\/24,\u00a0which is based on\u00a0271,819 dish ratings and 80,863 food product ratings.\u00a0<span>&#8216;Italy and Japan\u00a0<\/span><span>recorded the same average rating,&#8217; said Taste Atlas, &#8216;but Italy has taken first place again this year due to a higher rating of its best-rated dish &#8211; pizza.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Completing the top five is Portugal (fourth) and China (fifth), while the U.S ranks 16th, Australia ranks 50th, England ranks 39th, Scotland is 47th and Wales only just makes the list in 99th place.<\/p>\n<p>The top ten is rounded off by\u00a0Indonesia (sixth); Mexico (seventh); France (eighth); Spain\u00a0(ninth) and Peru (tenth).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a separate ranking focused on the world&#8217;s 100 best dishes, the crown goes to Brazil&#8217;s picanha &#8211; a cut of beef from the rump of a cow.\u00a0<span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/21\/13\/79209269-12889501-The_top_100_nations_for_good_food_have_been_revealed_and_it_s_It-a-24_1703166035244.jpg\" height=\"1152\" width=\"961\"><\/p>\n<p>The top 100 nations for good food have been revealed &#8211; and it&#8217;s Italy that&#8217;s number one followed by runner-up Japan and Greece in third<\/p>\n<p>In second, it&#8217;s Malaysia flatbread &#8216;roti canai&#8217;, and in third, it&#8217;s Thai stir-fry dish &#8216;phat kophrao&#8217;, which is traditionally made with pork or chicken, Thai basil, chilies and garlic and served with Jasmine rice.<\/p>\n<p>Italy appears in fourth place with its popular pizza Napoletana, topped with tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, and olive oil. In fifth, it&#8217;s guotie &#8211; a type of Chinese dumpling.<\/p>\n<p>Not a single British dish makes the cut among the world&#8217;s 100 best dishes, with Australia also conspicuous by its absence. (sixth); Indian &#8216;butter garlic naan&#8217; (seventh); Chinese soup-filled steamed buns, known as\u00a0 &#8216;tangbao&#8217; (eighth); Russian meat skewers, or &#8216;shashlik&#8217; (ninth), and Thai &#8216;phanaeng curry&#8217; (tenth).<\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Taste Atlas also charts\u00a0the world&#8217;s top 100 cheeses, with\u00a0the top three all from Italy &#8211; Parmigiano Reggiano (first); mozzarella di bufala campana (second) and stracchino di crescenza.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The list of the world&#8217;s 100 best dishes sparked debate among Taste Atlas&#8217;s 997,000\u00a0Facebook followers, with many keen to point out personal favourites that were missing from the list.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Call me average, but I don&#8217;t see pepperoni pizza on here,&#8217;
