7 things we spotted as Arsenal stars get medical checks

Arsenal’s stars will be back in full pre-season training soon, but before that they had some medical tests to pass.

And so while stars such as Granit Xhaka, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Danny Welbeck have World Cup commitments to take care of , the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Hector Bellerin hit the gym in St Albans, with Gunners staff recording their every move.

The players got to take up a range of different sports as their results were monitored, and they also looked to be having a great time while they were at it.

Here’s what we spotted from the session.

1. Aubameyang gets off to a flying start

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ended the previous campaign in fine form – especially given that he only joined the Gunners halfway through it – and he looks as though he’s planning on flying into this one too.

The forward soared through the air with the greatest of ease during the session, although even though there’s no VAR in the Premier League this season, we’d advise him to keep his arms down when he tries this on the pitch.

2. Hop, Mkh, jump

Another star about to start his first Gunners pre-season is Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and the Armenian looked as though he was hopping, skipping and jumping his way into the action in St Albans.

He’ll be targeting a leap forward in his fortunes after a stop-start beginning to Arsenal life.

3. Changing sports, Hector?

Looking every inch the professional weightlifter was Hector Bellerin, with the Gunners right back preparing to wow his teammates with sort of clean and jerk that would impress the Spanish Olympic team.

We haven’t got footage of the lift that came next, presuming there was one, judging by his Instagram game over the summer he probably looked brilliant while he did it.

4. Lac to it

Alexandre Lacazette was another who was in good spirits during the session, as he got to grips with several of the tests with a smile on his face.

The French forward was a bit of a slow burner in his first Gunners season, but after having that campaign to adjust to the English game and with Aubameyang now by his side he’ll be targeting at least 20 goals in 2018/19.

5. A resting Rambo

The beginning of pre-season is HARD, and Aaron Ramsey looked to be feeling the effects of that at one particular point in the session, when the only option for him was to have a little bit of a lie down.

The Welshman is going to be a key player for new boss Unai Emery, and Gunners fans would love to see that right hand of his signing a new contract soon.

6. Rob, holding

Rob Holding is one of many Gunners players who won’t quite know where they stand now that the Arsene Wenger era is over at Arsenal, but instead of standing here he was bending his knee as he got back into the swing of things on the kettlebells.

Or holding the kettlebells, if you want.

Holding, see. 😀

7. Who’s the boss?

Sead Kolasinac was joining in with the session too, we promise, but we were more fond of this picture which seems to suggest that he’s taken over as the boss here.

Look out Unai!
