Alton Towers crash amputee Leah Washington and boyfriend Joe Pugh get engaged

Alton Towers crash amputee and social media influencer Leah Washington has gotten engaged to boyfriend Joe Pugh.

The 24 year old model and inspiration was on the theme park's Smiler ride with Joe back in June 2015, when a test cart crashed into them.

The catastrophic injuries required Leah and another ride-goer called Vicky Balch to have one leg amputated.

Leah and Joe, who also suffered a number of non life-changing injuries in the crash, were on their first official date at the time and sat on the front row together.

Despite the horrific trauma of the crash, the couple have gone from strength to strength and been together ever since. Leah and Joe were celebrating a stunning culture-filled trip to Venice, Italy, when Joe decided to make things official.

As they enjoyed a romantic walk around the historical buildings and cobbled streets, Joe proposed to his girlfriend of nearly seven years.

Sharing an adorable selfie of them posing together, influencer Leah was all-smiles as she showed off her stunning engagement ring.

Sparkling in the light, the square-cut diamond featured tiny diamonds around the band, a gorgeous understated piece that perfectly suits Leah's style.

The survivor wore a dark top, checked grey and white shirt jacket and a pair of sunglasses holding her blonde locks away from her face.

Joe meanwhile opted for a grey printed swear that read NYC on the front, as well as a large black rucksack.

"So this happened yesterday… I SAID YES," the underwear brand ambassador captioned her post alongside an engagement ring emoji.

Entertainment stars and fans alike flocked to the comments to share their well-wishes for the happy couple.

"Congratulations," Geordie Shore's Charlotte Crosby wrote.
