Ant McPartlin ‘on the mend’ but doctors still have final say on his TV comeback

Ant McPartlin is making good progress with his rehabilitation but doctors will decide when he returns to TV following a battle with drink and drugs.

The presenter entered rehab after being caught drink-driving in a car crash in London last month.

Ant, 42, who was fined £86,000, smiled as he left a clinic following a month of intensive treatment.

But friends say doctors will decide when the Saturday Night Takeaway returns to work with sidekick Declan Donnelly as he went back too soon after his last rehab stint last summer.

A source said: “Ant is doing really well and all of his friends think he is in a much better place.

“But this time doctors, not TV bosses, will decide.”

The Mirror reported last month how Lisa Armstrong had broken her silence following estranged husband McPartlin’s release from rehab, hinting she’s looking for love.

The Strictly Come Dancing make-up artist was said to have been left devastated by Ant’s decision to end their marriage in January.

Lisa, 41, appeared to be gearing up for her own new beginning as she ‘liked’ tweets about ‘welcoming change’ and finding love.

"Find someone who loves you like this person loves Shane Richie," read the first post which was shared by This Morning’s Rylan Clark -Neal and featured a car and wheelie bin covered in images of the actor.

She also gave a second post by This Morning therapists Nik and Eva Speakman the thumbs up.
