Arsenal fans left furious after Belgium secure dramatic win against Japan

Arsenal fans have been left somewhat aggrieved after Belgium secured a dramatic comeback win against Japan at the World Cup on Monday night.

The stunning clash at the Rostov Arena saw five second half goals as Japan took a surprise 2-0 lead.

But Roberto Martinez’s side showed superb grit to rally back and win the last-16 tie with a 94th minute Nacer Chadli goal.

Arsenal fans aren’t too upset by the result, however, their grievances come from the man who scored Belgium’s equaliser – Marouane Fellaini.

The 30-year-old recently signed a new two-year deal at Old Trafford, after his previous contract ran out at the weekend.

Unai Emery had been keen on recruiting the Belgian midfielder on a free transfer, and Fellaini’s representatives had even held talks with Arsenal.

However, United upped their initial offer after Jose Mourinho’s pleas to the board were heard. The second offer satisfied Fellaini who subsequently signed.

Following his fine display against England and his equaliser against Japan on Monday, Arsenal fans saw what they were missing out on.

One fan tweeted: "Exactly why I would’ve taken Fellaini at arsenal. F****** frame."

While another simply tweeted: " Arsenal why didnt u sign Fellaini."
