Arsenal fans upset with one aspect of Lichtsteiner transfer

Arsenal confirmed the signing of Stephan Lichtsteiner on Tuesday afternoon – but some fans were left unhappy.

The former Juventus right-back joins the Gunners on a free transfer after spending seven seasons at the Serie A giants.

While in Turin, Lichtsteiner won seven Serie A titles and four Coppa Italias.

The defender is travelling to Russia this summer to compete in the World Cup with Switzerland, and is the country’s fourth-most capped player.

At 34 years of age, Arsenal have signed a player of experience.

However, some supporters have been left disgruntled by the number he’s been handed.

The full-back has taken the No.12 shirt, previously worn by Olivier Giroud. Clearly, this has come too soon for some…

One fan tweeted: "Why would you give the #12 shirt to Lichtsteiner, Arsenal. Should’ve retired it tbh there’s only one #12 in our hearts."

Is Stephan Lichtsteiner a good signing for Arsenal?
