A furious holidaymaker has lodged an official complaint, claiming Billie Faiers’ Maldives ‘raucous’ wedding ruined their ‘trip of a lifetime’.
The unnamed complainant has accused the 100-strong wedding party of ‘turning paradise into Southend’, likening it to an "Essex circus rolling into town."
"There were 90 plus members of the wedding party and it was carnage," the holidaymaker claimed to Mail Online .
"They were raucous and our trip was totally spoiled. Our trip of a lifetime ended so poorly."
In a letter addressed to holiday organiser Kuoni, the disgruntled person said that despite stumping up big sums of cash to stay at the £7,000-a-week exclusive resort, they were made to feel like ‘second class citizens’.
"It was virtually impossible to have a drink or meal without an area being re-arranged to accommodate the wedding party," the letter read.
"Every time we ate somewhere they would be shouting to one another across the restaurant if they weren’t seated together – Kuramathi is so tranquil and peaceful – we didn’t expect this sort of behaviour.
"Our real gripe is that paradise had turned into Southend, (nothing wrong with Southend), but we chose an exclusive resort and it soon became clear that we were less important than the Faiers group."
It comes on the back of reports that Billie’s new husband Greg Shepherd called one holidaymaker a ‘c***’ after they took a picture of Billie in her dress.
Security is said to have been called after Greg Shepherd allegedly turned on the woman and her partner, who had been refused entry to their villa because the wedding ceremony was being held right in front of it.
"People have paid many thousands of pounds for their dream holiday and so they tried to walk past them all but the groom, Greg, and some other guests turned aggressive and starting using abusive and obscene foul language," a source told The Sun.
"Greg then called the woman a c*** because she took a picture of the bride, as you naturally would do – then things then started to escalate."
However, a rep for Billie denies the claims, insisting the c-word was never used and that the guest was verbally abusive to the wedding party.
"Billie and Greg got engaged and have holidayed in the Maldives for many years, they have the upmost respect for the islands and it’s people and that includes the other guests staying at the resort," the spokesperson said.
There have been multiple reports of guests complaining about cordoned off areas, yobbos screaming and drunken guests spoiling the atmosphere – claims that have also been denied by the rep.
And a spokesperson for Kuoni said that the party were spoken to about their loud behaviour, but calmed down straight after.
"When the guests arrived, it’s fair to say there was a party atmosphere," it said in a statement.
"Our staff did have to speak to a handful of the wedding guests individually, but they were respectful and the situation was immediately resolved.
"Everyone has been having a great time and any concerned holidaymakers have been spoken to and the notes we’ve received are that they are all happy.
"We took immediate steps to make ensure guests were happy. Each received a letter ahead of the wedding and Billie’s film crew have stuck to restricted areas.
"We are used to managing special occasion travel. Our priority is to ensure that all guests are able to relax and have a happy holiday."
