You have to be a “Big Shot” to attend a Gov. Andrew Cuomo re-election fundraiser hosted by Billy Joel on Long Island.
The “Piano Man” and his wife, Alexis, are hosting a July 12 dinner bash for pal Cuomo at their Centre Island estate.
It will cost $5,000 for the cheap seats to hear Joel serenade Democrat Cuomo, who is seeking re-election to a third term.
The invitation says $7,500 will get you “priority seating” and boasts that the dinner will feature “local food & beverages.”
It’s not the first time that Joel has sang Cuomo’s praises.
In December of 2013, Joel performed at a Cuomo birthday fundraiser at the Roseland Ballroom.
The two are buddies.
They joined forces on a motorcycle ride to raise awareness for breast cancer and to honor victims of 9/11.
Cuomo officiated at Joel and Alexis’ wedding ceremony in 2015.
Joel is a beloved figure on his Long Island turf, and suburban Nassau and Suffolk counties are key battlegrounds in the race for governor.
Cuomo is facing off against “Sex and the City” actress Cynthia Nixon in the Democratic primary.
Nixon, who has the backing of the Working Families Party, has stressed the backing she has from an army of small progressive donors — contrasting with the fat-cat Cuomo fundraisers.
Marc Molinaro, the Dutchess County executive, is the Republican candidate for governor.
