BREAKING Carabao Cup first round draw in full revealed

The first round draw of the Carabao Cup has been announced.

Used by the top sides to give experience to their youngsters, it still remains a wonderful opportunity to claim silverware.

And as the first domestic trophy of the season, it can ease the pressure as the season develops, safe in the knowledge the season cannot be labelled a failure after claiming silverware.

With 70 clubs featuring, divided into north and south sections, it’s an early start to the competition in August 13.

The draw is taking place in Vietnam, with EFL chief executive Shaun Harvey explaining the logic behind the decision to take the draw overseas.

"A principle aim of our partnership with Carabao has always been to promote the competition internationally, taking high-profile activities such as the competition draws overseas to support the EFL’s international growth strategy and raise awareness of the competition in Carabao’s key territories," Harvey explained.

"There is no requirement for us to take draws overseas, but there is an absolute commitment to building the value of our competition outside the UK and the market in Vietnam should help the EFL and Carabao meet our shared ambitions."

Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Burnley come into the competition in the third round, as they are European teams, while the rest of the Premier League will potentially meet one of the winners from this round.
