The older brother of Avicii has flown to Oman to try to find out what killed the wildly popular DJ and producer.
Avicii, whose real name is Tim Bergling, was found dead Friday in the Middle East country. He was 28.
His brother, David, checked into an upscale hotel in the capitol, Muscat, about 15 minutes from the resort where Tim had been vacationing, TMZ reported.
Media in Avicii’s native Sweden said Tim had checked out of the resort sometime last week and David is trying to trace where he and a small group of friends went in the days before he returned.
The DJ, who made $250,000 a night touring, had medical problems. His gall bladder and appendix were removed in 2014.
He also suffered from acute pancreatitis, in part due to heavy drinking, the BBC said.
He blamed his health for his decision in 2016 to no longer go on tour.
“I know I am blessed to be able to travel all around the world and perform, but I have too little left for the life of a real person behind the artist,” he said at the time.
His girlfriend, Emily Goldberg, posted on Instagram, “For the two years we were together, he was my closest confidante and my best friend.’’
No cause of death was announced and his rep said no further statements would be issued.
