Beloved 1960s actress Doris Day has died at age 97.
The animal rights activist’s foundation confirmed the star passed away in her Carmel Valley, California home after battling pneumonia.
“Day had been in excellent physical health for her age, until recently contracting a serious case of pneumonia, resulting in her death,” The Doris Day Animal Foundation told the Associated Press.
RadarOnline.com readers know the star was known for decades as Hollywood’s all-American girl next door.
She rose to fame with films like Calamity Jane, Love Me or Leave Me, and Pillow Talk, but she was also a talented singer, and recorded hit albums between 1956 and 1968.
The blond beauty was predeceased by her only child, son Terry Melcher, who died from cancer in 2004.
Though she had a wholesome image onscreen, Day was married and divorced four times, and remained single since 1982.
