Catherine Tyldesley’s husband and son rushed to hospital during family holiday

Catherine Tyldesley has revealed the she rushed her four-year-old son Alfie to the doctors while her husband Tom Pitfield was taken to hospital too.

The Strictly Come Dancing star, 36, revealed how her holiday was put on a “27 hour delay” after both Tom and Alfie suffered health scares.

The former Coronation Street actress’ husband took to social media to thank fans after a bad start to the family trip.

Tom, 33, wrote: "It’s been quite the week. A 27 hour delay to start the holiday followed by the hospital for me and numerous visits to the Dr for Alf.

“Thank you so much @auntiecath17 for looking after us, always scary in a foreign country. Couple of days left to reclaim a holiday. It’s amazing what sand in between your toes and sun on your face can do for recovery.”

Tom didn’t state the reason for the hospital dash, but Catherine took to social media to share an emotional throwback photo with her son.

She wrote alongside the snap of herself cradling Alfie: “A Moment of Pure Gratitude. From the moment they placed you upon my chest, and you looked up at me with your beautiful big eyes. You had me. I love you.

“I love the bones of you. The smell of you. I could lose myself in that sweet smell for days. When you laugh my heart feels fit to burst. When you sing with me my soul shines brighter than you could imagine. When you cry my heart bleeds. When you’re poorly I am consumed by you- nothing else matters. Not a single thing."

She added: “You, my son are the greatest blessing to me and all around you. You light up this world with your kind heart and your awesome, hilarious sense of humour.

“I’ve got you baby boy. Always. Thankyou for understanding me. Thankyou for supporting me. Our souls are so connected. My best friend. What a honour is motherhood. What power. #blessed #grateful for this time. So precious.”

It comes after the actress opened up on facing mum-guilt during her training for Strictly Come Dancing, before she was voted off the show alongside partner Johannes Radebe.

Catherine was commuting from Manchester and leaving her son with his dad Tom. Speaking to new! magazine, Catherine said: “After the second or third night [away], I do miss him so much. We FaceTime all the time."

“You know how it is when you’re a mum and you’re running around all the time. Tom phoned me one night and said ‘Are you alright’ and I was like, ‘It’s a struggle, but I’m getting there, babe.’ I’d booked a massage and I was having a lovely time.”

Catherine revealed she was relieved that Alfie is now old enough to understand her career. She said: "You know, Alfie's four now and he's old enough now to understand that Mummy works away, and he loves Strictly, so it’s fine”.
