Celebs took to Twitter on Thursday to express their sadness over Fox’s cancellation of Dan Goor and Michael Schur’s cop comedy “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” after five seasons.
“RENEW BROOKLYN NINE NINE,” Lin-Manuel Miranda tweeted. “I ONLY WATCH LIKE 4 THINGS. THIS IS ONE OF THE THINGS #RenewB99”
When a user responded to Miranda that he was too late, he shot back, “take a walk. come back when you’re ready to FIGHT FOR THE SHOW.”
“Star Wars” star Mark Hamill was also crushed by the news, writing, “Oh NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! ???? I’m SO not ready to say #ByeBye99. Be forewarned @FOXTV-when networks dump shows I love, I’m known for holding grudges a long, L-O-N-G time. I’m still mad @CBS didn’t renew #SquarePegs! ?”
Hamill added, “#EverythingILikeGetsCancelledMark”
Sean Astin was really bummed out by the news.
“I can’t imagine this is a good business decision,” he wrote, tweeting out a link to a petition to save the show.
Astin continued, “Here’s the thing about Brooklyn 99 being cancelled, I don’t want it to be. I love all of those people & they earned the right 2 have a final season victory lap where I could emotionally prepare. Don’t know them. Have nothing 2 do with the show. I’m just a fan who deserves better.”
The Backstreet Boys also tweeted, “Thanks for the memories, #Brooklyn99” with a sad face emoji.
However all hope is not lost for the nine-nine. On Friday morning there was chatter that Hulu or Netflix would rescue the show.
“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” stars Andy Samberg, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Joe Lo Truglio, Andre Braugher, Chelsea Peretti and Stephanie Beatriz.
