Celebrities who have cancelled James Charles amid Tati Westbrook drama

Kylie Jenner, Miley Cyrus and Shawn Mendes have all unfollowed makeup artist and YouTuber James Charles as he sinks deeper into controversy after Tati Westbrook slammed the influencer in an almost-hour-long video.

In the 45-minute video, titled, ‘BYE, SISTER,’ she criticised her former BFF and accused the star of, among other things, manipulating people’s sexuality. His actions, she had said, made her ‘literally want to vomit.’

The pair fell out after James promoted Sugar Bear Hair vitamins, which Tati found to be disloyal as she had released her own hair vitamins.

In the extensive video, she said: ‘I have finally had enough.

‘The last phone conversation me and James Charles had, is that he said something about a situation that happened at my birthday in Seattle,’ she paused for a moment before adding: ‘Oh my God, you tried to trick a straight man into thinking he’s gay, yet again – and somehow you’re the victim?

‘You know it’s really disgusting to manipulate someone’s sexuality, especially when they are still emerging into adulthood and don’t have everything figured out.’

The star continued: ‘You are using you fame, power and money to play with people’s emotions. You’re threatening to ruin them and embarrass them, and you’re doing that to have them behave sexually in your favour even if they’re straight?’

She also went into great detail about how she and her husband had helped James set up lucrative financial deals, and Tati said she considered him such a close friend, she paid for him to fly to her wedding and he did her makeup during the special day.

James took to YouTube and offered an eight-minute apology, but the damage had been done.

Less than 24 hours after the video went live, over 24 million people viewed it, and in that time Charles lost over one million followers – with some of them being celebrities and famous friends.

Here are some of those people:

Kylie Jenner

As we reported yesterday, one of the first people to press that unfollow button was fellow beauty guru Kylie Jenner.

That’s right. It seems the star has axed him from her Instagram feed despite collaborating with the 19-year-old for Halloween last year.

They had teamed up in 2018 after the self-made billionaire tweeted James asking to do a video together.

He obliged, and they created an awesome ‘sister skeleton’ look on the beauty queen.

The friendship is seemingly no more.

Kim Kardashian

James started a landslide, as Kylie’s sister Kim also hit that unfollow button despite the fact that the pair also collaborated on a video.

In December, Kim was part of Charles’s Beauty Battle, which has two people applying make-up to one half of his face.

At the time, Kim had been up against her famous makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic, and Kim spent the video talking about her beauty line KKW, and how much North West loved his videos.

Demi Lovato

Back in December James surprised his followers with a picture that featured him and singer Demi Lovato looking glowed up.

He had captioned the picture: ‘Just a quick Saturday glam’ and tagged Demi in it, much to the delight of his (and her) fans.

However a quick look at Demi’s Insta friends will find that James is no longer on it.

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus, like over one million others, has unfollowed James.

The pair both attended the Met Gala last week, where Miley wore a green number and James wore trousers and a jeweled crop top.

Katy Perry

Katy waved buh bye to James and the drama, and clicked that unfollow button, too.

She’s yet to say anything about it, though – much like everyone else.

Shawn Mendes

Between his shows and his modelling campaigns, Shawn has his plate full.

Still, he had enough time to unfollow James on Instagram.

Iggy Azalea

Musician Iggy Azalea appears to have waded into the YouTube influencers beef and picked a side.

Or rather, picked the side she won’t be on. A hint: It’s James Charles.

Jeffree Star

This is a hard-hitting one.

Fellow YouTube beauty vlogger Jeffree Star has always had the 19-year-old’s back, but recent tweets seem to suggest Star’s had enough – and he’s clicked the unfollow button on both Twitter and Instagram.

After the Tati drama erupted onto the digital stage, and following Charles’ eight-minute apology in which he claimed he made no money from the infamous Instagram post, Star seemed to shade him on Twitter.

‘The truth always tastes better than a lie,’ he wrote, followed by a tea emoji. Rawr.

It wasn’t just conventional celebrities who had had enough of him – YouTube stars who were friendly, and even filmed collaborations with James in the past also pressed the abort button on their friendship.

Shane Dawson

Fellow YouTuber Shane Dawson, with whom James filmed a YouTube video with, has unfollowed him.

A little strange, given Dawson’s own fair share of controversies, including the time where he appeared on a podcast and talked about having sex with his cat…

Laura Lee

Another ironic unfollow comes from the infamous Laura Lee.

The YouTuber landed in hot water last year when she got into a public spat with Jeffree Star and it prompted his fans to unearth racists tweets posted by the beauty vlogger in 2012.

She released an apology video that had her weeping into the camera, and instead of the sympathy she probably thought was forthcoming, viewers criticised her for faking her tears.

The Dolan Twins

Another YouTube duo that were previously friends with James, Greyson and Ethan and appeared in a number of Charles’ videos.

They were a trio were friends, and they even referred to being part of the ‘Sister Squad’, a colloquial term used to describe Charles’ crew.

No more.
