Cheryl ‘upset’ over claims mum Joan is to blame for Liam Payne split

Cheryl Tweedy is reportedly furious over claims that her beloved mum Joan is to blame for her split from Liam Payne.

The newly-single singer is said to be upset that her mum has been brought into things after a source claimed Joan ‘got in the way’ of their relationship.

"Cheryl isn’t pleased her mum’s been dragged into this when it’s nothing to do with her," a source told The Sun .

"The reports are rubbish and totally untrue. It’s upsetting for everyone reading them. Joan has nothing to do with the split."

Contrary to reports that she moved in with the couple at their £5million Surrey mansion following the birth of son Bear, one, the insider states she has actually been up in her hometown of Newcastle.

"She has an extended family in Newcastle so has been incredibly busy there. It is unfair she is being blamed," the source added.

It comes after the former couple announced the end of their two-and-a-half year relationship last night, with Liam said to have moved out as long as five months ago.

Confirming the news on their individual Twitter pages, their statement read, "We are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It’s been a tough decision for us to make.

"We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together."

The split is said to have been caused in part by the 11-year age gap between Cheryl, 35, and Liam 24, with both at ‘different stages of their lives’.

“Cheryl and Liam worked really hard on their relationship – they had troubles earlier this year and were able to get through them," a source told The Sun.

“But after a lot of careful thought, came to a decision that it’s best for everyone if they do go their separate ways.

“He still cares for her and she cares for him. They still have an ongoing relationship together. They have a baby together."
