Queen Elizabeth‘s colorful wardrobe is very deliberate. The 92-year-old monarch typically wears bright clothes so her royal fans can easily spot her in a crowd – and Kate Middleton is following suit!
In the documentary The Queen at 90, the Queen’s daughter-in-law, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, said: “She needs to stand out for people to be able to say ‘I saw the Queen.’”
Sophie added, “Don’t forget that when she turns up somewhere, the crowds are two, three, four, 10, 15 deep, and someone wants to be able to say they saw a bit of the Queen’s hat as she went past.”
While all the royals sick to muted tones like black and grey for somber events, Kate is not afraid to follow the monarch’s lead in chosing bold outfits.
Both women own a rainbow of differently colored outfits, including the boldest shades of red.
The royal women also chose event appropriate colors, like emerald for St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
Of course, Kate and the Queen can never go wrong in pink!
The Queen often choses coordinated brimmed hats to go with her ensembles, while Kate is a fan of fascinators and elegant headbands.
Not only has Kate taken after Queen Elizabeth’s color choices – she also has a similar handbag!
The women can’t be missed in a bold blue!
