Comic Gary Owen accuses Delta Air Lines of racially profiling his wife

Comedian Gary Owen accused Delta Air Lines of racially profiling his wife when a ticket agent questioned her when she was standing in a first-class line.

The “Think Like a Man” star said in an Instagram video his wife Kenya Duke and daughter were at the Cincinnati Airport in Ohio waiting for a flight to San Francisco on Sunday morning when the incident occurred.

“So, they tell everybody to line up for first [class],” Owen said. “My wife gets in line, and the guy working the gate at B21, Cincinnati Airport asks my wife, ‘Oh, are you in first?’ And my wife said, ‘Yeah, I am.’ And then my wife said, ‘Are you not gonna ask the guy behind me?’ And he goes, ‘No.’ My wife said, ‘Why?’ He said, ‘Cause I don’t feel like it.’”

A visibly upset Owen, 44, said, “The guy behind her’s a white dude, and the ticket agent was a white dude. But he asked the black lady, ‘Are you in first?’ But not the white dude.

“So, Delta – I have almost 3 million miles with you. When you see this lady, that’s my wife. She flies first. Don’t ask,” he said.

In his caption accompanying the video, Owen says: “I know you have a lot of amazing employees that treat ppl with respect & dignity. But what happened this morning was not ok.”

A Delta rep said to Yahoo Lifestyle that Duke tried to board 30 minutes early — before children, the elderly and disabled passengers — and was blocking access.

“Delta does not tolerate discrimination of any kind,” the spokesperson told Yahoo Lifestyle. “We are reviewing the situation with our Cincinnati team and are in contact with the customer to better understand what transpired.”
