The third round of the show’s letters game gave the options ‘R, V, O, E, P, T, E, R and S’ and one contestant saw it as a chance to bag lots of points with an eight letter word.

Later taking to Twitter with a snapshot of the awkward moment, Rachel joked: ‘Anyone in need of a new creative insult, @C4Countdown is at your service! Come on, we all know one…’
Contestants were seen striving to spell out a word using a series of letters and while they scored highly with the word ‘imbued’, Susie, who sits in the show’s Dictionary Corner prompted the blunder as she suggested ‘budgie’.
Rearranging the board to spell out ‘budgie’, Rachel had accidentally left the letters on the top shelf to read ‘c**’ and was seen looking rather embarrassed as she struggled to keep her composure following the mishap.

‘What do you feed a c** budgie? Nuts and seeds.’
Picking up on the lewd replies, Rachel responded to her co-star: ‘This is where staying quiet gets you @susie_dent Simultaneously appalling and genius use of puns.’
It’s not the first time Countdown has found itself plagued with a surprising innuendo or crude term on the show.
Last month, Rachel and show viewers were left blushing, as one contestant offered up ‘sh*gs’ as a five letter word. When the contestant attempted to pull off the questionable word during the round, Rachel could not resist pulling a silly face at the cameras.
She was again left red-faced when another rude word appeared on Countdown in the form of ‘penises’ and she was seen clearly struggling to keep a straight face as she stood alongside the term on the board behind her.

Contestant Diane and her opponent Toby were tasked with unscrambling the letters ‘FSNUEIPSE’ in the letters round. Toby came up with the much more family-friendly ‘spines’ but Diane won the point with her rude – and longer – answer.
Show regular Susie and special guest Paul Zenon smirked in Dictionary Corner as they revealed it was an acceptable word, and an awkward silence followed in the studio as Rachel spelled the word on the board while smirking to the camera.
In April she spelled out the word ‘bumhole’ after her own boyfriend Pasha Kovalev suggested it when he was a guest in Dictionary Corner.

Following the broadcast, Rachel took to Twitter to share a snapshot of her dancer beau’s efforts, alongside the caption: ‘Can’t take @PashaKovalev anywhere… This was supposed to be the clean version of the show!’
In yet another mishap, earlier this year, Rachel was seen sporting a cheeky grin as she rearranged the Countdown board with a suggestive message.
The word ‘squirt’ was picked by the show’s two contestants on in a letters round with an ‘O, K’, and ‘I’ left over on the board.
Seizing the initiative, numbers whizz Rachel stood smiling proudly as she spelled out ‘OK I squirt’ to the entertainment of viewers.
