Producer Robyn Todd and “Curb Your Enthusiasm” director David Steinberg have hit NYC from Hollywood to shoot the new season of their Discovery show “Cash Cab” — which will premiere during Shark Week in July.
But we hear the duo’s also garnering heated interest in another series, “Inside Comedy,” which they’ll be shopping when the rights revert back to Steinberg from Showtime in June.
The series, hosted by Steinberg — who appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson” 140 times — over four seasons, featured guests from Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld to Robin Williams, Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Chris Rock, Jordan Peele, Steve Martin and Mel Brooks.
It’s getting buzz from networks that could also produce new episodes.
Steinberg and Todd were seen hobnobbing over lunch at power eatery Michael’s last week in a room of players including AMC Networks CEO Josh Sapan, Showtime vet Matt Blank, billionaire Charles Bronfman, CBS News legal analyst Rikki Klieman, producer Jean Doumanian, and former White House adviser Gary Cohn dining with DC connector Tammy Haddad.
Joked Steinberg: “When Discovery said Shark Week, I thought they were talking about my agents at Gersh.”
