Sylvain Longchambon, a professional skater on ITV's Dancing on Ice has been rushed to hospital after splitting his chin open during a nasty fall in rehearsals.
The 42 year old husband of Coronation Streetstar Samia Longchambon, who plays Maria in the soap, fell whilst he was practicing his routine on the ice with his partner Mollie Gallagher, 25, who also stars in Coronation Street.
Sylvain, who has starred on Dancing On Ice for a number of years, had to have his chin glued after the incident.
The ITV show's creative director Dan Whiston told The Sun: "We’ve had lots of falls this week, with pro-skater Sylvain rushed to hospital after hitting his chin on the ice during rehearsals.
"He had his chin glued and luckily was back on the ice with Mollie Gallagher who put on a solid performance."
Despite the hospital trip, Sylvain was able to be back on the ice on Sunday evening, as he and Mollie racked up a score of 28.5 after an emotional routine to She Used To Be Mine from the production Waitress.
Not only was Dancing On Ice rocked by Sylvain's fall during rehearsals, Dan revealed that there was more drama preceding Sunday night's show.
Dan said: "Just when we thought we couldn’t have any more dramas this week, we had a situation where the platform the musical cast stood on had to be screwed into the ice to stop it from sliding around.
"I absolutely loved choreographing such an exciting pro performance alongside our special guests from Tina the musical!"
Sylvain is not the only star of Dancing On Ice to suffer a nasty fall, as former The Wanted star, Siva Kaneswaran, also suffered a horror incident after he fell and cracked his head on the ice before Christmas.
The star explained that he had "passed out" during a "serious fall," in which he "hit the back of his head" and was diagnosed with a "mild concussion".
He admitted that he had found it "difficult to get back on the ice" and that his confidence had been "shaken".
Siva credited the medic that was onsite, who checked his blood pressure and eyes, as he said: "I’m still here, I’m OK, but pretty shook up."
Former EastEnders actress Patsy Palmer, 50, also took a tumble this weekend, however, she was saved in the dance off, leaving singer Michelle Heaton, 43, eliminated from the competition.
Instead of the two lowest scorers battling it out in a skate-off, last night's episode saw the individual with the fewest votes immediately sent packing.
Upon her exit, an emotional Michelle, who had been partnered with ice dancing pro Lukasz Rozycki, said: "I'm gutted. I've loved every second and loved everything I just did there."
