Over the past couple years, much of the media’s focus on Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott has had to do with the couple’s financial woes — and with good reason.
In case you weren’t already aware, these mo fos are broke.
And we don’t mean “the reiki massage guy only stops by twice a week now” Hollywood broke.
We’re talking “keep your devices charged at all times, so at least the kids can watch YouTube if the electricity gets cut off” regular folk broke.
The Spelling-McDermotts have been sued by creditors; they’ve been forced to downgrade to a smaller home in a less posh neighborhood; there was even a time when it looked as though Dean’s unpaid child support would land him behind bars.
Without a doubt, these are dark times for this notoriously troubled couple, but fear not — Dean’s got a plan.
With the help of his trainer and his new gym membership, Dean’s about to get hyper-swole.
How exactly that’ll help pull his family out of the financial doldrums is anyone’s guess, but Dean swears it’s just step one of his master plan.
“Workout number one of many in my journey in getting fit and making a full on comeback,” McDermott proudly proclaims in thw video above.
Don’t get us wrong, the guy is in great shape (especially for 51 years old), and we would never disparage anyone who’s putting effort into getting their health back on track.
We’re just not clear on what the hell kind of comeback he’s talking about.
In his Instagram bio, Dean declares that he’s an “actor/NOT a reality star!!” which leads us to believe that he’s planning on climbing the Hollywood ladder.
Interesting timing for such a decision, as McDermott has six children to support and reality TV has been the primary means by which income has entered his household for the most of the past ten years.
But hey, if Dean thinks acting is his clearest path back to financial security, then we say go for it.
And while “look at me, I’m at the gym” posts are usually among the lamest things on social media, we’d also encourage Dean to continue documenting his journey.
Not because we want to draw inspiration from it or any such nonsense as that.
No, you see, McDermott has a history of cheating, and if he’s gonna start spending all his spare time at the gym, it’s probably best if he allows Tori to keep tabs on him.
It’s not that we don’t trust the guy, it’s just that … we can’t think of a way to end that sentence.
