Dick Strawbridge took to Twitter last night to address the news that he and his wife Angel Adoree are both in the running for the Reality Personality of the Year Award. The couple are on the 2021 shortlist following the success of their Channel 4 series Escape to the Chateau.

The 61-year-old TV star urged his followers to use their vote for his spouse of six years, whose real name is Angela.

In view of his 82,600 followers, he tweeted: “It’s getting interesting Angela and I have both been shortlisted Reality Personality of the Year 2021 National Reality TV Awards.

“Can I ask you to vote again please?” he added, sharing the link to vote.

“To quote Highlander ‘there can only be one’- so I’d love it if you’d vote for my girl,” he sweetly added.

The gesture did not go unnoticed by fans.

“Always the gentleman,” one follower wrote on the comments section of the post, before adding: “Don’t think I can vote from Canada but wishing you both good luck!”

“I voted from California,” another added.

“Your both excellent and so at ease in front of the camera, the program is a treat and the offshoot series, you deserve an award and a very large brandy,”(sic) a third person remarked.

“You both have my full support, but I cannot choose between you when you are both wonderful,” a fourth person chipped in.

The couple, who tied the knot at their stunning 19th century chateau in France, have been on screen together since the summer of 2016.

They go up against a host of television stars including First Dates star Fred Sirieix, Joey Essex for Celebrity Go Dating and TOWIE stars Chloe Meadows and Olivia Attwood to name a few.

Their series is also nominated for the Best Reality Non-Competition Show 2021.

Escape to the Chateau follows Dick, Angel and their family as they renovate a 45-room castle in Martigné-sur-Mayenne, France.

They are parents to Arthur and Dorothy, who are regularly seen on the programme.

The most recent series saw the family navigate the coronavirus pandemic with no weddings or events at the venue.

They are currently on screen with their spin-off show Make Do and Mend, helping viewers with their DIY dilemmas.

During a recent interview with The Telegraph, Angel, 43, revealed that she “blushed from head to toe” when she first met her now-husband at a party.

They were introduced to each other via their mutual agent.

The mum-of-two was hosting the event with her company The Vintage Patisserie at the time and was wearing a designer dress and pinny.

Dick told The Telegraph that he thought she was “so gorgeous”.
