Bryshere Gray, who is best known for his role as Hakeem Lyon on the Fox series Empire, was arrested for domestic violence on Monday (July 13) in Arizona.
On Sunday night, police officers responded to a call for help after a woman was able to get a Good Samaritan to help her. The woman claimed that her husband, Bryshere, had “assaulted her for several hours at their home,” according to TMZ.
Bryshere‘s wife was taken to a nearby hospital and cops says that she had “numerous visible injuries on her body.”
While the victim was being transported to the hospital, police tried to get in contact with Bryshere and they say he refused to leave the home. A standoff with SWAT officers took place and he finally surrendered to the officers at 7am on Monday morning.
Bryshere was booked on three charges – felony aggravated assault (strangulation), misdemeanor assault (domestic violence), and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
The series finale of Empire aired earlier this year and it didn’t get the ending that the show’s creators planned.
