Hollywood’s elite turned out in style at the 70th Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Monday night.
From the cast of The Crown , to the fab five from Queer Eye and beloved couple Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake , anyone who’s anyone was in attendance.
But there was one famous face in the audience that left viewers and the media in a state of confusion – with many people having to do a double take.
And there’s a very good reason why.
As a Golden Globe award-winning actress, Amy Adams is no stranger to walking the red carpet at glamorous events.
The star of films such as Arrival, Man of Steel and American Hustle, she’s used to capturing the attention of the press.
But her appearance at the Emmys captured attention for a very bizarre reason – namely because she wasn’t actually at the awards ceremony.
Amy noticeably didn’t attend the Emmys this year, but several news outlets reported that she did, leaving viewers at home very confused.
It turns out that the redheaded 44-year-old has a doppelgänger in the form of lesser known actress Christiane Seidel.
With her flame-coloured locks and porcelain skin, 36-year-old Christiane bears a striking resemblance to Amy and many people on social media were shocked to discover they weren’t the same person.
One person said: "So Christiane Seidel and Amy Adams are now one same person. Okay."
Another wrote: "Separated at birth? Christiane Seidel looks just like Amy Adams in blush red gown at Emmy Awards."
A third commented: "This isn’t Amy Adams what is happening."
This isn’t the first time Amy Adams has been mistaken for another actress.
The star, who is currently appearing in the TV drama Sharp Objects, often gets confused for Isla Fisher , and vice versa.
In fact they look so similar, Isla even portrayed Amy’s alter-ego in the 2016 film Nocturnal Animals .

She then filmed a mock PSA for Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2017 to show everyone that they were different people.
During filming, she revealed how Lady Gaga once mistook her for her co-star at the Vanity Fair Oscar’s after-party.
She said: "I was there, all excited and dressed up at the bar and, you know, schmoozing with showbiz types, and the crowds parted and there was Lady Gaga.
"And she’s heading right toward me and she says, ‘Thank you. Your performance in American Hustle, Amy’ … And I’m thinking, ‘Oh my gosh, it’s Lady Gaga. I love her so much. I don’t want to tell her the truth.’ So I just gracefully thanked her, bowed my head."
