Furious Spice Girls fans discover what’s happening to tickets for sold out shows

Their comeback is already proving to be one of the most popular pop reunions of all time.

And now demand for tickets to see the Spice Girls perform live next year is so high that they are being re-sold online for more than £2000 a pop.

Tickets to the 2019 Spice World UK tour went on sale on Saturday at 10.30am.

And four additional dates at Manchester, London and Coventry were quickly announced to keep up with demand.

According to The Sun , tickets to the concerts, which will see Geri Horner, Mel B, Mel C and Emma Bunton perform together for the first time in seven years, were being sold for up to £2083 each just minutes after officially going on sale.

Tickets on eBay were also being sold for as much as £9999-a-piece.

Fans vented their frustrations at the inflated prices, after missing out on bagging tickets themselves.

One wrote: “So sad to see #SpiceGirls tickets for sale at stupid prices on Viagogo. Why didn’t they consider blocking secondary ticket touts like @edsheeran? Just means the real fans miss out…”

Another commented: “Yet again all the ticket touts have taken all the tickets and selling for ridiculously amounts of money! It would of been lovely to take my daughter to see the 5* Spice Girls! So sad this keeps happening!”

A third tweeted: “I refuse to pay ticket touts 5 times the price, it’s dreadful to profit from die hard fans like this.”

Andrew Parsons, managing director at Ticketmaster, called it the company’s “busiest ever sale”.

He explained: ‘Demand for Spice Girls was off the chart. They have smashed through Ticketmaster UK’s records becoming the busiest ever sale.

“There were millions of people on our site searching for tickets, with a queue at one point of well over 700,000.

“Hundreds of thousands of tickets were sold to happy fans across the country within minutes. Congratulations to the girls. From what we saw, they could have played nearly every night for a year.”

The girls, who will not be joined by bandmate Victoria Beckham for the series of reunion gigs, confirmed the tour in a press release this week, announcing: "We are beyond excited to be reuniting next year for a stadium tour!

"Bringing girl power and our message of friendship and love back to the stage feels more relevant than ever. We hope everyone can join us for one big Spice Girls party!“
