The romances of Love Island kept us glued to our TV screens last year, but tragically, not so many of the couples lasted much beyond that Summer of Love.
Winners Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies went their separate ways just four months after the final, with runners-up Chris Hughes and Olivia Attwood following them to splitsville shortly after.
Most recently, Gabby Allen and Marcel Sommerville stunned fans by announcing their bombshell break-up, in the wake of a heartbreaking cheating scandal.
We take a look at where it all went wrong for the reality hopefuls – and reveal which surprising couples from the 2017 series have bucked the trend and gone the distance.
Kem Cetinay and Amber Davis
Not even £50,000 prize money, a slew of TV appearances and endorsements worth £1million, was enough to keep Kem and Amber together.
The split came as a huge shock to many fans, given their loved-up display in the villa – and Amber announcing plans to marry her beau within days of returning home.
But sadly it wasn’t meant to be and the pair broke-up in a joint statement back in December- weeks after moving into an Essex love nest together.
"With sadness, we’ve decided to separate," they told heartbroken fans. "We fell in love in the villa and want to thank all the fans of the show for supporting us.
"Our lives have changed beyond recognition over the past few months and our hectic work schedules have made it difficult to make things work.
Amber has since been linked to a number of high profile men, including TOWIE’s Pete Wicks while Kem has celebrated his new found freedom by enjoying Lads holidays with Chris Hughes.
Olivia Attwood and Chris Hughes
Olivia Attwood and Chris Hughes didn’t enjoy the easiest rid during their spell in the villa, with the pair experiencing their fair share of ups and downs and run ins with ‘Muggy’ Mike Thalassitis.
And their time on the outside didn’t get much easier.
Their cringe-worthy break up was captured on camera for their Crackin’ On reality series. The show that began as a documentary of their moving in together ended with their bitter split.
Liv didn’t waste too much time in getting over the pain, quickly reconciling with Blackburn Rovers ex Bradley Dack.
While Chris has been linked to string of high profile ladies from Georgia May Foote to Made In Chelsea’s Emily Blackwell.
Gabby Allen and Marcel Sommerville
Despite having what looked like one of the most genuine relationships in the villa, Gabby Allen and Marcel Sommerville’s relationship had one of the most shocking break-ups of them all.
The Blazin’ Squad star admitted to cheating on poor Gabs on a romantic holiday together – with a fellow guest at their hotel.
Marcel’s rep confirmed his love rat status, telling Mail Online: "Sadly the rumours are true, Gabby and Marcel have split up. Marcel can’t really defend his actions as he knows he did wrong and will regret it forever.
"Marcel is upset that he broke the heart of someone he loves and someone that he shared so many special moments with, but with all the good times there are difficult times, and sadly Marcel and Gabby had been in a bad place at this stage.
"Gabby was a special part of my Marcel’s life, and he hopes one day she can find it in herself to forgive him."
Personal trainer spoke out in the wake of the allegations to say she was in ‘in shock’ but was getting through with the help of her family.
Camilla Thurlow and Jamie Jewitt
Much to fans’ delight, Camilla Thurlow and boyfriend Jamie Jewitt are one of the only couples still together after falling head over heels for each other in the villa.
Camilla didn’t have the easiest time on the show, but once she’d escaped bad boy Johnny Mitchell and got acquainted with hunky Calvin Klein model Jamie she finally had a reason to smile.
Aside from enjoying their blossoming romance, since finding fame the pair have done extensive work with UK charity Help Refugees, and recently made a trip to the border between Turkey and Syria.
Jess Shears and Dom Lever
While they were cruelly torn apart in the villa, Jess and Dom have been glued to each other ever since they returned to the ‘real world.’
After being booted off the show in the early stages, the genetically blessed pair have gone on to appear in campaigns together, glossy magazine spreads and even ‘tied the knot’ live on Good Morning Britain on Valentine’s Day.
But later this year, the pair will making it properly official, after Dom popped the question to his model beau.
It’s not known which of their co-stars will be attending their big day, but at this rate there might not be many of them left still speaking.
