Gogglebox’s Tom Malone blasts ‘disgusting’ Dubai influencers as UK Covid deaths reach 100k

Boris Johnson announces UK surpasses 100,000 Covid deaths

Gogglebox regular Tom Malone, 26, shared his thoughts on the latest UK coronavirus-related death figures following Boris Johnson’s latest speech this evening. During the conference, the Prime Minister said he offered his “deepest condolences” to those who had lost a loved one to Covid-19.

I still see selfish people going to parties and denying that covid is ‘that bad’.

He added: “To all those who grieve, we make this pledge: that when we come through this crisis we will come together as a nation to remember everyone we lost and to honour the selfless heroism of all those on the front line who gave their lives to save others.”

Boris added of the coronavirus cases: “It’s fair to say the rate of infection is still pretty forbiddingly high but at a certain stage we will want to be getting things open.

“What I will be doing in the course of the next few days and weeks is sending out in more detail as soon as we can when and how we want to get things open again.”

Sharing his thoughts on Twitter, the reality star wrote: “100k deaths you know… and I still see selfish people going to parties and denying that covid is ‘that bad’.

Agreeing, the Gogglebox star replied: “That too… disgraceful.”

“Well said,” a second added, while a third blasted the “shambles” UK Government.

Many influencers and reality stars have been slammed for travelling to the country after Health Secretary Matt Hancock stated that nobody should be travelling internationally unless “absolutely necessary”.

Fitness blogger Sheridan Mordew defended herself on This Morning today, telling hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield she was on an essential work-trip to provide sunny content for her followers.

The influencer claimed she had travelled to the United Arab Emirates because she was struggling with her mental health, adding her “clients depend on me to bring them happiness”.

She added of her thought process: “The only way I’m gonna get out of this is to find an opportunity to get out of here on a plane to Dubai.”

Matt Hancock recently said on the BBC: “International travel, right now, should not be happening unless it’s absolutely necessary.

“No parties in Paris or weekends in Dubai.

“That is not on and in most cases, it’s against the law.”

Elsewhere, Tom recently lifted the lid on getting free takeaways on Gogglebox after being queried by a fan on TikTok.

The reality star appears on the show alongside his mum Julie, dad Tom Senior and little brother Shaun in their Manchester property.

When asked by a TikTok user if they get a complimentary meal during filming, he said: “Yes, without a doubt one of the best perks of Gogglebox is the fact that every time we film, which is twice a week, the crew get us a takeaway of our choosing. It’s literally one of the most amazing things about the show. It’s the best.

“The hardest thing is choosing what we’re actually going to have to eat, because my dad is super picky with food – anything too far away from a pie and chips or sausage and mash isn’t really his thing so, that’s the hardest thing about it.”

The Malone family joined Gogglebox for the fourth series back in 2014 and have been regulars ever since.
