James Bond 25 scriptwriter leaves amid fears film may be delayed at least a year

Fears are mounting James Bond 25 will be delayed for at least a year following director Danny Boyle’s shock decision to quit this week.

The Mirror can also reveal scriptwriter John Hodge has left.

A spokeswoman for John, 54, said: “No, he’s not working on it.”

Fans were stunned on Tuesday when a statement revealed: “Michael G Wilson, Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig today announced that due to creative differences Danny Boyle has decided to no longer direct Bond 25.”

It is believed the forward-thinking script caused a clash.

A leaked casting call sheet suggested the villain would be Russian and Danny, 61, wanted it to reflect the #MeToo era.

Filming had been due to start in December. Bond writers Neal Purvis, 56, and Robert Wade, 57, are expected to step back in.

Bookies are backing two-time Bond director Sam Mendes, 53, and an online campaign wants Kathryn Bigelow, 66, at the helm.

Daniel Craig, 50, has already put US TV series Purity on hold.

While Idris Elba, 45, has denied he will be the new 007.

Makers EON Production could not be reached.
