Former Strictly Come Dancing professional Janette Manrara, 38, has revealed she was left “in tears” during a recent episode of the show when Jayde and Tony Adams got emotional about their personal stories. Comedian Jayde didn’t shy away from showing her vulnerable side as she opened up about the loss of her sister, who she dedicated her American Smooth routine to.
Arsenal legend Tony also got emotional as he opened up about suffering from a mental breakdown.
In a new interview, the dancer said of the moments: “I’ve been in tears for Jayde and Tony – to come out and be that brave every week when they’re going through so much.
“As the conversation around mental health has become the norm, celebs are no longer afraid to talk about their feelings and to lose yourself in music is one of the best forms of therapy you can have.”
Janette was a professional on the show for eight years before she swapped the dance floor for presenting last year.
Her last series was in 2020 when made it to the final with singer HRVY.
Janette’s husband Aljaž Skorjanec went on to step down from the show the following year.
The dancer recently admitted that his exit was down to not feeling the same without Janette and because he wanted to pursue an acting career.
He is yet to return to the show to watch his former colleagues, admitting he isn’t quite ready yet.
Janette added to The Mirror: “His exit is still so raw, he hasn’t braved going to the studios to watch the new series yet.
“He’s always been there cheering for me and backing me up.
“Now he’s finding his own feet and I’m doing the exact same thing for him.”
The brunette beauty went on to say that while they’re not a perfect couple, they are “each other’s rock and support”.

“Especially for Aljaž right now, when he’s just figuring it out,” she added.
Aljaz recently opened up about his hopes of becoming an actor.
Speaking to Hello! Magazine, he spilled: “I’m just a fan of the craft and am trying to get my foot in the door.
“Do I want to go to Hollywood? Of course! If I didn’t dream big I would never have ended up on Strictly.”
Both he and Janette rose to fame on Strictly back in 2013.
In his first year, he won the Glitterball trophy with Peter Crouch’s wife Abbey Clancy.
In 2017, he made it to the final of the show with Gemma Atkinson, but they missed out on the win to Joe McFadden and Katya Jones.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 7pm on BBC One.
