Jason Derulo is opening up about the hopes he had for the Cats movie.
Speaking to The Telegraph, the 30-year-old singer and actor, who plays Rum Tum Tugger in the movie, shared that he thought the movie would change the world.
“I thought it was gonna change the world,” Jason shared. “Even when I saw the trailer, I got chills down my spine!”
However, the movie ended up not being that stellar at all, earning only 78 million at the box office.
Jason also shared that he put a lot of thought into taking the role as his first acting job.
“For the longest time, I was trying to figure out what’s the perfect first role,” he reminisced. “Cats checked all the boxes. You can’t get a more start-studded cast, you don’t get a more respected director than an Oscar winner, and Rum Tum Tugger is a legacy role, a standout character in a classic musical.”
If you didn’t see, creator and composer Andrew Lloyd Webber revealed his own thoughts on the movie and they weren’t good.
