Jenna Coleman chats on the phone during a break from filming as she returns to her regal role in series three of Victoria

Victoria’s first and second series proved to be a smash-hit, drawing critical acclaim in both the UK and the United States. 

And Jenna Coleman returned to her regal role as Queen Victoria as she got back into character to shoot scenes for season three in the seaside town of Flamborough, Yorkshire, on Wednesday.

The actress, 32, slipped into a traditional, period-style purple and white floral tiered gown with a full skirt as she checked her phone during a break in filming.

The pleated dress was held at the waist with a black belt, and she accessorised with a glamorous purple brooch and a straw sun hat to complete the look.

Dressed in a striped black-and-white jumper, a white shirt and light blue trousers, the actor, 32, looked ready to frolic on the beach for the day’s filming.

Sporting his character’s signature moustache, Tom completed his look by donning a blue flat cap over his brunette locks.

The star appeared to be shooting a sweet scene alongside a child actor, who will take on the role of one of the pair’s children, as they played a fun seaside game.

The third series of Victoria began shooting in late May, as Jenna shared a selfie on Instagram where she wore the character’s costume.

Focusing on her blue contact lenses, which emulate the Queen’s image, the actress told her 737k followers: ‘Guess who back. Blue eyes back #crackingwallpaper @victoriaseries #6babies’

The actress has since been seen filming in a variety of locations, with the crew set to take over Hull High Street later this week.

The royal show’s new outing is said to begin in 1848, and will focus on a ‘hugely dramatic and eventful’ period in the family’s life as revolutions take place across the European continent.

As well as Jenna and Tom, other returning members of the cast include Alex Jennings and Margaret Clunie, who take on the roles of King Leopold and The Duchess of Sutherland, respectively.

It has also been announced that Laurence Fox, 40, will join the new series as Foreign Secretary Lord Palmerston while Kate Fleetwood, 45, will play Victoria’s mysterious sister Feodora.
