Jerry Hall makes loss in celebrity TV hunt for antique bargains

You can’t always get what you want! Mick Jagger’s ex-wife Jerry Hall makes loss after loss in celebrity TV hunt for antique bargains

As the wife of billionaire Rupert Murdoch she is used to the finer things in life.

But Jerry Hall doesn’t always know the difference between valuable antiques and tat.

The former supermodel, who has four children with ex-husband Mick Jagger, made a series of losses on a BBC2 programme in which she trawled antique shops for items to sell on at auction.

No luck: The former supermodel, made a series of losses on a BBC2 programme in which she trawled antique shops for items to sell on at auction, including a top hat (pictured)

The 65-year-old, from Texas, appeared on last night’s Celebrity Antiques Road Trip with psychotherapist Philippa Perry, 64, wife of artist Grayson Perry.

The pair went head to head as they scoured the Home Counties with an expert each, Miss Hall in a boat-tail Buick Type.

One item that caught Miss Hall’s eye was a rare £175 Huntley & Palmer biscuit tin shaped like a stack of books.

Asked what biscuits she’d keep in it, Miss Hall said: ‘I like those crumbly oat ones with chocolate on them.’

Despite being advised not to buy it, she fluttered her eyelashes at the dealer and got the price down to £75.

Not very valuable: Her top hat, piano stool and Sunday stick (a golf club that doubles as a walking stick) also made a loss

Having started off with £400 each, winner Mrs Perry ended up with £358.82 – while Miss Hall had only £230.48 left.

Asked at the beginning of the programme if she’s a fan of antiques, Miss Hall replied: ‘Yes. I am. I know a little bit but this is exciting.’

Later in the episode she taught Medhurst how to do a catwalk through the antiques shop.

Miss Hall, who began modelling in the 1970s, is married to media tycoon Rupert Murdoch, 90. The couple tied the knot in 2016.
