Danny Dyer has thrown his support behind the England squad ahead of today’s World Cup clash with Sweden – by roping in the EastEnders cast to sing Three Lions (It’s Coming Home).
The soap’s Danny joined his co-stars on the set of Albert Square outside the Queen Vic to belt out the classic Baddiel & Skinner lyrics – all while wrapped in enormous England flags.
The funny clip was shown on BBC Breakfast hours ahead of the 3pm match, with Danny standing front and centre as though he’d already had a couple of early morning sly ones from his own pub.
He and the rest of the cast danced in the street and cheered for Harry Kane’s squad, who will take on Sweden in the semi-finals later today.
It comes as the England WAGs – wives and girlfriends – get ready to celebrate their boys in Samara Stadium this afternoon.
Rebekah Vardy – wife of striker Jamie Vardy – shared a snap of herself and their four kids boarding a private plane from Saint Petersburg in the pouring rain, all wearing their red England strips.
The WAGs have been staying in St Petersburg after the Columbia game, and made their way to the airport in the early hours of this morning.
They weren’t all thrilled with the conditions though, with Becky begging her UK Twitter followers not to "rub it in" that Britain is enjoying a scorching heatwave while Russia deals with the drizzle.
Meanwhile, EastEnders fans were treated to Danny’s character Mick Carter’s rant about Tuesday’s England v Columbia game in a special clip filmed hours after the win, which was inserted into Wednesday night’s episode.
In the scene, Mick gushes over goal keeper Jordan Pickford before letting rip at Sweden.
Sauntering up to Halfway, he says: "I mean, he was like a cat, the geezer. He was like, ‘Get hold of that! See ya later on Colombia!’"
England vs Sweden
Halfway pitched in: "When he missed that penalty though I thought, ‘Oh no, here we go again!’ But I can’t believe it."
"Well start believing it," he said. "We’ve got Jordan Pickford in between the sticks.
Mick quipped: "Just give us the trophy! I’m tellin’ ya what, son – it’s coming home."
"But Sweden ain’t no joke, Mick," Halfway insisted. "They’re a strong unit."
"Flat pack mugs," the landlord joked. "We’ll smash the granny out of them."
And viewers loved it.
One tweeted: "Danny Dyer singing “its coming home” on #eastenders has made my night."
While another commented: "the talk of the World Cup on #eastenders is honestly making me giggle! ITS COMING HOME @bbceastenders."
A third remarked: "Hats off to #EastEnders for the #WorldCup mention. Brilliant! #ItsComingHome #Eng @MrDDyer."
