When KJ Apa got the role in The Hate U Give, there was one person he HAD to call!
The Riverdale actor opened up about how he had to talk to the author of the book, which inspired the movie, Angie Thomas.
“I wouldn’t be able to be a part of this film if it weren’t for her,” he told Buzzfeed. “And I wanted to have her thoughts on certain things and bits of information about the story because it is an important story, and I wanted to tell it honestly and as truthful as possible.”
“He wanted to talk to me and he wanted me to know that he was going to give his all to this,” Angie said. “He took the whole situation in stride and understood the magnitude of this and what it meant for him coming on in such an interesting time on the project.”
