For the past few weeks, rumors that Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott are engaged have been circulating non-stop on social media.
Some have even gone so far as to claim that Kylie and Travis are secretly married.
Kylie and Travis already have a daughter together, so it’s not hard to imagine them making some sort of permanent commitment to one another in the very near future.
But they’re probably not married already — because that’s not how the Kardashian clan does business.
Allow us to explain:
An insider confirmed to Radar Online today that Kylie and Travis recently got engaged.
As for why the couple hasn’t gone public with the news, the source says master momager Kris Jenner is manipulating the situation to allow for maximum exposure.
“It’s just a case of when and how Kris chooses to announce the news,” says the insider.
“The likelihood is that it’ll be on social media, but first they’ll shoot a ton of scenes for the show and set the stage for a money-spinning TV wedding.”
Yes, it seems a Kylie-Travis wedding special might already be in the making.
The ladies of the Kardashian-Jenner clan have always lived their lives in front of a camera crew, but the news that Kylie might be planning a TV wedding is a bit surprising.
After all, the 20-year-old certainly isn’t in need of cash or a public image boost.
Kylie is soon to be a billionaire and she has 120 million followers on Instagram.
This is a level of success and popularity that her sisters never could have imagined, which is saying something, as Kylie’s sisters are some of the most famous women on the planet.
So Kylie doesn’t really stand to gain much from a televised wedding — but the family business does.
Ratings for Keeping Up With the Kardashians have been on the decline for years, and if the trend continues, E! network execs will eventually arrive at the decision that the show is simply too expensive to produce.
Kris reportedly sees the show as the cornerstone of the Kardashian media empire, and she’s convinced her daughters that they need to do everything they can to ensure its continued survival.
“The show needs all the help it can get right now, and Kris sees Kylie’s romance as a plotline that’s not been fully exploited,” says the insider.
“Exploited” is not generally a term that people use in reference to their own children.
Then again, most parents didn’t help their children become international icons.
Needless to say, it’s easy to see why the ladies of the Kardashian-Jenner family continue to follow Kris’ marching orders — even if it means subjecting themselves to a little light exploitation.
