Liverpool fans make great point as Oxlade-Chamberlain is ruled out World Cup

Liverpool fans have been reacting to the news that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been ruled out of the World Cup.

Earlier on Wednesday the Reds midfielder admitted he is "absolutely devastated" in a Twitter post, after he suffered knee ligament damage in Liverpool’s Champions League demolition of Roma.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was forced off the pitch early into the fixture after landing awkwardly on his leg while contesting former Manchester City defender Aleksandar Kolarov for the ball.

"Absolutely devastated to have picked up this injury at such a crucial time in the season," wrote Oxlade-Chamberlain, while providing an update on his situation on social media.

"Gutted I won’t be able to play any further part now in our Champions League run for Liverpool, and also the World Cup with England.

"But now it’s all about supporting the boys and getting behind them. I know we have what it takes to do something special in this tournament.

"I’m going to give everything I have to make sure I’m back as quickly as possible.

"However, this all pales in comparison to how the family of the Liverpool fan badly hurt before last night’s game must be feeling. My thoughts are with him and his loved ones.

"Thanks for all your kind words, messages and support. I’ll see you soon."

Liverpool fans are disappointed that the midfielder will play no part in the World Cup finals, or the rest of their Premier League and European campaign.

But it seems some supporters have a Plan B up their sleeve, which might just work in England’s favour come June.
