Charlene White looked sensational on the red carpet at the Pride of Britain awards in a red jumpsuit. However, the Loose Women star has now opened up about how she struggled with her insecurities while wearing the outfit.
Speaking recently, the ITV journalist opened up about finding it hard to “walk out the house”.
As a guest on Kate Thornton’s White Wine Question Time last week, she was quizzed on the last thing she did which felt out of character.
Charlene confided it was the outfit she wore to the awards ceremony, which her friend suggested to her.
When Kate called the look “red hot”, the broadcaster admitted it was “completely out of my comfort zone”.
She added: “In my 20s, going to clubs, yeah totally in my comfort zone but in my 30s and becoming a mum and in my 40s, older and not as skinny and all of those sorts of things, very much out of my comfort zone.
“But a friend suggested to me that I wear it and I thought, ‘You know what? I’m just going to do it.’”
However, she admitted it was only at the last minute that she decided to wear it.
“It was the collective power of my friends going, ‘It’s fine’ and my sister going, ‘You look beautiful’ that actually got me to walk out the house wearing it.
“And then I was walking down the red carpet and I did feel fabulous.
“Despite the fact I’m on the tele every single day, I do still have my insecurities.” (sic)
She admitted she felt these more after having children “later in life”.
Charlene looked amazing at the glitzy event, which was held on October 30 at The Grosvenor House Hotel.
She wore a form-fitting red sequined jumpsuit from Nadine Merabi paired with a simple green velvet clutch bag.
Charlene wore minimal jewellery and her hair up to complete her glamorous look.
The ITV presenter also shared some sweet insight into her process of getting ready on her Instagram page.
Posting on October 30, she shared the struggles of balancing the glam process with getting her kids ready for Halloween.
Alongside a photo of her and her sister, she wrote: “I can confirm that trying to get ready for the Pride of Britain Awards, while getting your kids ready for Halloween, while also having to contend with the other very clingy child…
“Whilst trying to explain to the first one over and over again that Halloween won’t start til it’s dark is as stressful as it seems.
“Anyway, here’s me and my sister-date @_carinawh attempting to take a picture of just the two of us.
“Thanks to the glam squad for throwing this together in the midst of all that.”
