One of the best things about social media is how it instantly connects us to our favorite celebrities. We can like, comment and share their content with the click of a button and, honestly, it’s sometimes difficult to remember that we’re not really their friends IRL.
Although tons of celebs love that their fans have more access to them, Lorde apparently wants to re-examine what social media means to her as an artist. Fans were quick to notice that, earlier this week, the “Greenlight” singer was doing some spring cleaning and that her post counts were drastically decreasing on both her Instagram and Twitter.
Before her surprise deletion, the 21-year-old had hundreds of photos and messages on her social media channels, but now all that’s left are two tweets and three Instagram posts. Deleting social media posts has become a more common way to promote something. Remember when Lorde’s former BFF, Taylor Swift, deleted EVERYTHING right before she announced Reputation?
But since Lorde released Melodrama last year and doesn’t have anything in the works, fans were worried that the brunette wanted to take a step back from the spotlight. Thankfully, those rumors were quickly shot down because she commented on a fan’s post saying, “Not needing to recover or pull back from u guys, it’s just what i feel is cleanest and most true to me as an artist & musician in 2018. will still be creeping on u all and commenting, just not going to be posting endless content. less is always more.”
We’re so glad that everything is okay and that she’s not planning on going anywhere. We do have to admit that we will miss seeing constant updates! You can see what’s left of Lorde’s social media here:
