Former Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has shown off a gruesome head wound he suffered during Fenerbahce’s clash against Kasimpasa – leaving the Slovakian needing TEN stitches.
Skrtel was involved in a sickening clash of heads with an opposition player leaving him with blood gushing from the grim cut.
His shirt was left soaked in claret, but he bravely continued in the game up until half-time with his head strapped in a bandage.
Five stitches were then hastily applied before Skrtel played the remainder of the match, helping Fener to a 4-1 win.
The 33-year-old was taken to hospital following the game where the wound was properly treated, including another five stitches.
But the ex-Reds hard man was in high spirits and took to social media to show off his battle scar.
Alongside snaps of his head in a protective fish net, Skrtel posted: "Guys I’m ok, thank you for all your messages."
Skrtel scored 18 goals in 319 appearances across nine seasons during his time on Merseyside.
He left for Turkey in 2016.
