Mel B has revealed that ex-boyfriend Eddie Murphy will always be ‘the love of her life’.
The Spice Girls singer has opened up about the father of her 12-year-old daughter Angel Murphy Brown, not long after sharing the status of her undying love for him in her autobiography released last November.
Speaking in her upcoming interview on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, the 43-year-old detailed how she first met the Golden Globe winner, 58, who she called her ‘soul mate’.
In her interview, obtained by The Mirror, Mel said: ‘We had something special that I’ve never really truly felt with anybody else.
‘I’ve thought I’ve had it, but they’ve lied. His was pure. He is the love of my life. He always will be.
‘He showed me what true love feels like, and for that I have the utmost admiration and respect for him.’
Mel said their relationship, which saw them planning a marriage, became rocky after he questioned the paternity of their unplanned pregnancy.
In response, the American’s Got Talent judge said she fled to Leeds from the USA, in the hopes of Eddie following her to win her back.
But then, the Dreamgirls actor told a journalist in a TV interview that he questioned if he was the father and would need a DNA test to believe it.
The I Want You Back singer said her ex now ‘regrets’ saying it, and the former couple had ‘planned that baby together’ and were madly in love but it just went ‘dramatically wrong’.
Their romance came to a halt in December 2006, with Angel being born in April the following year as Eddie popped the question to film producer Tracey Edmonds.
He was later proved to be Angel’s father.
These further details come months after a preview of the same interview saw Mel B drop a bombshell claiming she slept with bandmate Geri Horner in the late 90s.
Mel shocked us all with the revelation in March but has since downplayed Piers claims that ‘it’s all kicked off’ since she went public with the claims.
‘I was actually on the phone with Geri’, Mel told an Australian radio station. ‘I did the interview and I just text her, “I admitted on Piers that we had a little bit of a thing, but don’t worry about it, it was all tongue-in-cheek and I didn’t go into detail.
‘This was pre your husband, pre your baby, pre one of my babies, so don’t worry.” We had a long conversation. Yeah, she text me the night of and I spoke to her at length today, among other things, as we’re getting ready for tour.’
Away from the Geri news, Spice Girls fans also don’t have long to wait until they’ll get to see the spicy gang perform as the long-awaited tour kicks off at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on 27 May before they head to Manchester, Coventry, Sunderland, Edinburgh, Bristol and finally London.
Mel B, however, was recently rushed to hospital after temporarily losing her vision, shortly before she was due to start Spice Girls tour rehearsals.
A Spice Girls spokesperson told Metro.co.uk of Mel’s ordeal: ‘The situation with Mel is under control. She is looking forward to the tour.’
