Michael Ray released “Whiskey and Rain,” the lead single from his upcoming album, on September 24.
“With this new music, I reminded myself that I’m as much of a fan of traditional country music today as I ever was… and we’re bringing it back! I hope you hear the influences I grew up on when you listen to this song,” said Ray.
The song echoes two of Ray’s heroes, Gary Stewart and Gary Allan, melding vintage sounds with modern Country.
“I miss story songs that you have to listen to all the way through to understand. This song is everything I love about country music – traditional country music, like Tim McGraw and Earl Thomas Conley and I want to bring that back,” said Ray.
He added, “This is the music I originally came to Nashville to make, and I’m grateful to have this opportunity for fans to get to know me better as an artist.”
Josh Thompson and Jesse Frasure wrote “Whiskey and Rain” and Ross Copperman produced it. The song sees a heartbroken Ray drowning his sorrows in alcohol.
Earlier, Ray released “Her World Or Mine” and its official music video starring Chad Michael Murray.
