Newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky’s eight-year-old daughter suffers ‘severe burns’ after their boat exploded and they had to be rescued by fisherman during family holiday in Greece

  • The newsreader, 45, her child Angelica, eight, and another relative were reportedly  ‘rescued’ by fisherman who also helped to extinguish the fire
  • It has been claimed that since the explosion, her daughter has been flown back to the UK for medical treatment, but her condition is not life threatening

Natasha Kaplinsky’s eight-year-old daughter, Angelica, has reportedly suffered ‘severe burns’ after their boat exploded into a ‘fireball’ during a family holiday in Corfu, Greece, last Friday.

The newsreader, 45, her youngest child and another relative are believed to have been ‘rescued’ by fisherman who also helped to extinguish the fire.

Since the explosion, it has been claimed that Angelica has been flown back to the UK for medical treatment, her condition is not life threatening, as investigators currently look into the petrol leak aboard the boat.

A port source told The Sun: ‘The girl suffered serious burns. Ms Kaplinsky and a man, thought to be the girl’s granddad, suffered lighter wounds.

‘At first the girl was rushed to hospital in Corfu Town with burns to her face and hands.

‘Her mother and grandfather were treated at a private clinic. It was then decided to fly them home.’

The boat was ‘towed to Kouloura harbour’ (pictured) after the accident

It is believed that Natasha’s husband, Justin Bower, 45, and son Arlo, nine, as well as two other relatives, were also aboard the Plumbago Go last week – with the incident causing around £350 worth of damage.

Corfu Port Authority told the publication: ‘Three people were injured after a fire on a boat.

‘The vessel suffered a mechanical failure which caused a fire in the engine room, which was immediately extinguished by the people on the boat.’

While Natasha’s spokesperson added: ‘Natasha and her family were involved in an accident in Corfu. 

Natasha is believed to own a five-bed mansion called Plumbago (pictured) with the boat also named after it and called Plumbago Go

While she also won the first ever series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2004 with dance partner Brendan Cole, who has since been ‘axed’ from the show.
