SOUR is headed to the small screen.
On Thursday, February 17, Olivia Rodrigo announced a new concert film that will take fans behind the scenes of how her debut album SOUR was made. Titled Olivia Rodrigo: Driving Home 2 U (A Sour Film), the movie will include never-before-seen footage as Olivia road-trips from Salt Lake City—where she started recording her heartbreak anthems—to Los Angeles.
Along the way, she will recount the making of the Grammy-nominated album and the challenges that came with becoming an overnight sensation at just 17 years old. According to the 30-second teaser trailer, the documentary will also feature brand-new arrangements of tracks and performances of 11 of her hit songs in eccentric locations along the 690-mile journey.
“This is a unique film experience where for the first time, fans will understand how her album came to be and why it was such a personal journey for Olivia,” Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, said in a statement. “This is not a concert film per se, but really, an opportunity to experience firsthand how Olivia Rodrigo became one of the biggest music stars of the day—and a chance to see her perform the songs from SOUR like never before.”
The documentary airs exclusively on Disney+ on March 25.
