Costing £35 for a hat right up to £155 for a jumper, the diver’s merino wool knitting sets are aimed at beginners who might have seen him enjoying the hobby at the 2021 Tokyo games.

The 27-year-old star credits the soothing effects of knitting for helping him secure his gold medal wins for Great Britain.

Tom said: “I have crafting to thank for the way I was able to compete at the Games.

“Due to Covid restrictions, at the Olympics we couldn’t do anything, we couldn’t go outside, we couldn’t go and interact with anyone else.

“So we had to find something else to distract ourselves from it and honestly that was how my Olympic knitting project came about. I started off learning to knit with kits and the fact I’ve been able to design some of my own and share my love of knitting with others is super exciting.

“I didn’t want anything to be too difficult so they are very much on the beginner to easy scale.”

He added that he wants to get knitting and crafts added to school curriculums, as it would be “amazing for kids to learn to unwind”.
