Piers Morgan has decided to stay uncharacteristically quiet on the birth of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s second child.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced on Sunday that they have welcomed their daughter Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, after the royal family’s nickname for the Queen and Prince Harry’s late mother Princess Diana.
She is now eighth in line to the throne, behind her older brother Archie.
The former Good Morning Britain star has been a long time critic of the royal couple. His divisive comments about the Duchess, saying he struggled to believe aspects of her explosive Oprah interview earlier this year, ultimately led to him quitting the ITV programme.
However in the wake of their baby news Piers told his followers on social media that he would not be weighing in ‘out of respect’.
The TV star tweeted: ‘To those asking for my reaction to the new royal baby, I am respecting her parents’ constant pleas for privacy and declining to comment.’
They asked anyone who wishes to send a gift to make a charity donation instead to organisations working for women and girls.
